Blessing of the Pets

Princess Miyuki, Tinkerbell, and I attended the Blessing of the Pets at our church yesterday. I tried taking all four pups last year, but in close quarters with a courtyard full of various animals, I spent most of the time trying to untangle myself (one-handed because Jynxie isn’t fond of crowds and wanted to be held) as Gizmo tried to romp with everyone.

This year I took the easy way out and brought Yuki and Tinkerbell as representatives. (I promised Gizmo and Jynxie their very own walk when we got home).

Last year we had a snake in attendance. If it returned this year, I didn’t see it, but we did have a fish,

a frog, and a bunny.

Bunny arrived in a basket and none of the many dogs in attendance even seemed to notice, nor did the bunny react in any way to the dogs. For that matter, the cats didn’t either, other than to ignore everything around them except those who came over to pet them.

Followed by a trip to Yuki’s favorite store for a new scarf (Tinkerbell has taken over her flamingo one and she despises baths but took being bathed by the Girl Scouts in good grace).

Followed by a nice cool berry-infused iced tea at Barnie’s.

Fortunately, we were trapped by rain (the only spot that was dry was under our awning), so had an excuse to write and sip tea a little longer than planned.

Yuki’s chair got spattered so she moved into my lap, already occupied by Tinkerbell. Luckily, they are both small enough to fit.
