My Acting Life – Southern Comforts
In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Treat.”
For those of you who have been wondering where the heck I’ve been, this is it.
My favorite treat is doing theatre and it isn’t even fattening. Of course I never turn down chocolate as a matter of principle.
This is our final weekend for Southern Comforts, a charming play about a widow and widower who love baseball and each other. Come see us today and tomorrow at 2 pm at Outside the Box Theatre in the Franklin Pearce Auditorium in beautiful Montverde, Florida.
On Monday we start rehearsals for Radio TBS – stay tuned for that as well.
Sorry, would love to, but wouldn’t make it even with ideal flight connections. Hope it brought the house down, Cynthia. Cheers, Ken

I just read your hilarious entry in Janet Reid’s flash fiction contest, and I wanted you to know I’m sending it to my son. He’s been battling Common Core in his son’s school. What a nightmare! *** I’ve been busy this weekend, and with not so much as a spark of an idea for an entry, so I probably won’t be entering this contest. I just wanted to tell you how much I loved yours.

Thank you so much. I had a lot of fun writing it. My niece has twins in the first grade and she frequently posts their common core math problems. That plus the food police plus holidays are offensive just made my freedom-loving common sense soul snap. I wrote that, did my show, and then bought 2 bags of chocolate. So glad you enjoyed it!

Hi! This seemed to be the most recent post…? So I was just dropping by to visit. Wow, they made you up to look SO different in that character you played. I saw your “real” pic and then looked at that one, and I would NEVER have guess it was you.
Today – I envy you being in Florida!

My life has been chaos lately! Between work, shows, and Hubby’s surgery I haven’t had much time to write. I didn’t post one picture from Radio TBS (our Christmas show). We just started rehearsals for Steel Magnolias this week. Will try to catch up.
41 degrees here – we’re all in shock. I actually had to find my jeans and some closed toe shoes!

Ha! I have a friend who lives in FL – Williston actually – she used to live in the Keys, but anyway, I hear that same thing from her. (finding actual LONG pants and closed toed shoes.) What part will you play in Steel Magnolias? It’s one of my favorite movies of all time!

I’ll be playing Ouiser. It’s a stretch for me. I’ve played M’Lynn before. I never get to play evil (or in this case cranky) roles. It’s one role my husband has always wanted me to play (he has seen my cranky side). This director likes to cast us in roles we don’t usually play which stretches all of us and makes for great shows. Right now my constant note is “meaner than that” which is tough for a natural peacemaker. It’s a lot of fun, though.

It’s in the 30’s today. I may have to find my coat.
