Muse
This week’s Weekly Photo Challenge is: “So what’s your muse — what subject do you turn to frequently, more inspired each time?”
I love the beach – it never fails to lift me up. It soothes my citified nerves, reminds me where I came from. Looking at the ocean fills me with a sense of limitless possibilities.
My garden brings me peace, lets me dig in the dirt, provides me with an endless array of color and beauty. It also reminds me as flowers cede their place to new blooms in a new season (right now it’s plumeria, vinca, begonia, plumbago, and an orange umbrella-looking plant that I looked up once but can’t remember what it was) I need to check in with my goals, chart my progress.
Part of the fun of writing in my garden office is watching the birds and squirrels.
Oh my goodness, y’all! Our shy woodpecker did a brief flyby. (We have two, a big one and a little one. This is the big one).
My family always supports and inspires me. They are why I do what I do, why I try my best.
Our family includes dogs, cats, a parrot. They lift me up when I’ve had a hard day. They warm my feet. Today Tinkerbell and Tigger are my writing and gardening buddies. It’s hot this morning. They don’t care. Neither do I. The others are wussing out in the air conditioning.
And just for fun, since Muse is the theme, my friend Muse Watson. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a writer’s conference where my screenplay was a finalist and he was the keynote speaker. He’s a good guy (though he sometimes plays bad guys). Go check him out.
